How Energy Monitoring works

Measure electricity consumption per group to see exactly where energy is used — and decide whether to start small or measure everything at once.

Cobra Climate Energy Monitoring delivers smart metering modules that measure electricity consumption per group (circuit). This lets you see exactly where energy is being used in your installation, rather than relying on a single meter for the whole building.

What it measures

The system measures the total energy consumption of your installation as well as the consumption of individual groups and devices, such as:

  • Extraction systems
  • Compressed-air compressors
  • CNC milling machines
  • Vacuum pumps

Lighting groups, other consumers, and energy generators (for example solar) can be measured too. Any remaining "other" consumption is also mapped, so the full picture adds up.

Two ways to start

You can choose how much to measure from day one:

  • Start small — begin by metering a few large consumers instead of every group.
  • Measure everything at once — installing meters for all groups in one go avoids repeated installation work and gives a complete picture of every energy user immediately.

What's connected to what

All meters are installed at the main distribution board. A central meter measures the total, while a separate meter is added for each group you want to monitor. The next articles explain the components and how they are installed.
