We claim that the CO2 level is a very good indicator of ventilation in a space. There is research establishing a relationship between inadequate ventilation and COVID-19 infections. Can we therefore conclude that low CO2 levels can prevent Covid?
We have been working on improving ventilation in buildings for over five years, by measuring and reducing CO2 levels. Strangely enough, until recently, knowledge of ventilation in relation to illness and productivity was limited. It always seemed logical, but of course that is not sufficient to draw conclusions.
That is why we are also cautious about claiming that good ventilation can reduce or prevent COVID infections. Nevertheless, there are many studies that draw direct or indirect connections between the two.
The Spanish newspaper El País has written a very interesting article on this topic.
